INDEPENDENT CISCO EQUIPMENT REVIEW

Cisco equipment recycling and ITAD

Submit Cisco UCS servers, Catalyst and Nexus switches, routing platforms, modules and optics for independent buyback, ITAD or recycling review. Include exact models, installed options, quantities, condition and your location.

Cisco product names and trademarks are used only to identify equipment LAeCycle may process or evaluate. LAeCycle is an independent electronics recycling and ITAD provider and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Cisco.

Enterprise servers, storage systems and network equipment

Cisco product families to identify

UCS and compute platforms

List servers, chassis, fabric interconnects, nodes, processors, memory and installed media.

Switching and routing

Identify Catalyst, Nexus, ASR and ISR models, supervisors, line cards, power supplies and installed options.

Modules, optics and managed systems

Group modules and SFP/QSFP optics by part number. Identify Meraki, Firepower, wireless controllers/APs and phones separately, including account, organization and licensing restrictions.

Strong candidates for independent evaluation

Current, complete equipment, matching lots and accurately documented configurations can improve the usefulness of a review. Include installed modules and power supplies rather than listing only the chassis.

Some current, complete and marketable Cisco equipment may qualify for purchase or value recovery. Equipment without recoverable value may still qualify for ITAD, parts recovery or recycling. Final eligibility depends on model, configuration, age, condition, quantity, location and current market demand.

Recycling, ITAD or buyback?

Recycling provides a path for accepted equipment without a viable reuse market. ITAD adds the agreed inventory, data-handling, reuse and reporting services. Buyback is a potential outcome for independently evaluated equipment, not an automatic part of either service.

What affects Cisco equipment value?

Manufacturer and model

Complete manufacturer names, model numbers and part numbers identify the equipment and its generation.

Configuration and capacity

Processors, memory, storage, modules, licenses and installed options may affect value.

Condition

Working status, service history, completeness, cosmetic condition and visible damage are considered.

Quantity and accessories

Matching quantities, rails, power supplies, modules, trays and accessories may improve project value.

Location and logistics

Pickup access, loading, packaging, distance and scheduling affect project costs.

Current market demand

Final value depends on age, resale potential, secondary-market demand and transportation cost.

Not every asset has resale value. Equipment that does not qualify for buyback may still be eligible for reuse, parts recovery or responsible electronics recycling.

Prepare an inventory and release access

  • Record complete model and part numbers, quantities, installed modules, power supplies and condition.
  • Identify storage media in servers, appliances and other data-bearing equipment.
  • Remove access credentials and management enrollment when authorized; disclose account or ownership restrictions.
  • Confirm license and support-transfer requirements. Do not assume subscriptions or entitlements can transfer with hardware.

Data destruction and chain of custody

Saved configurations and storage media may contain business information. Confirm the required sanitization or physical-destruction method before transfer. NIST SP 800-88–aligned sanitization, punching and crushing are separately scoped options. Serial reports, certificates and other records depend on the agreed service scope.

Review data-handling and destruction services

Coordinate pickup and project logistics

Tell us whether the equipment is installed, disconnected, boxed or palletized. Include pickup city, quantity, weight, access restrictions, loading docks and preferred timeline. Regional projects are evaluated against equipment value, distance and the requested labor and services.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions

What information should I include with my Cisco inventory?

Provide exact Cisco model and part numbers, quantities, condition and installed modules, power supplies or accessories. For UCS systems, list processors, memory and media. Identify management enrollment, account restrictions and license-transfer questions. Include the equipment location and access details without sending credentials or sensitive configuration contents.

Does every Cisco device qualify for buyback?

No. Eligibility depends on generation, configuration, completeness, condition, quantity, current demand and project logistics. A manufacturer name or product-family listing is not a purchase offer. Equipment without resale value may still be reviewed for another ITAD, parts-recovery or responsible recycling service.

Should Cisco devices be removed from management accounts?

Remove access credentials and management enrollment when you are authorized to do so, and identify restrictions that remain. Account ownership, cloud-management organization and licensing can affect reuse or transfer. Confirm transfer requirements with the relevant administrator or manufacturer rather than assuming a subscription moves with the hardware.

Can data destruction and documentation be included?

Yes. Identify saved configurations and installed storage media before transfer, then confirm the handling and records you need. NIST SP 800-88–aligned sanitization and physical destruction options can be reviewed separately. Serialized reports, chain-of-custody records, certificates and Client Portal documents depend on the confirmed project scope.

Is LAeCycle affiliated with Cisco?

No. LAeCycle independently evaluates and processes enterprise equipment. Cisco product names and trademarks are used to identify the hardware that can be submitted for review. They do not imply endorsement, authorization or a manufacturer partnership. Purchase and processing decisions follow LAeCycle’s independent inventory and project review.
